Social media platforms have transformed the way individuals discover, create, organize, and share digital content. Among the numerous visual and interest-based social media platforms, Pinterest and Tumblr provide distinctive environments for content discovery, self-expression, community interaction, and digital engagement. Although both platforms support image, video, text, and other multimedia content, they differ considerably in their interface, content organization, user interaction patterns, audience engagement, and primary purposes. This research paper presents a comparative study between Pinterest and Tumblr to examine their similarities and differences from the perspectives of content sharing, user engagement, communication, and platform functionality. The study focuses on understanding how users interact with content on both platforms and how their respective features influence user experience and engagement. A descriptive and comparative research design is proposed, using primary data collected through a structured questionnaire from users of Pinterest and Tumblr. Secondary information will be collected from academic literature, research articles, books, and reliable digital sources. The collected data can be analyzed using percentage analysis, mean scores, standard deviation, and comparative statistical techniques. The study is expected to provide insights into the distinctive characteristics of Pinterest and Tumblr and contribute to a better understanding of visual and interest-based social media platforms. The findings may be useful for researchers, digital marketers, content creators, and organizations seeking to understand user behavior across different social media environments.
